If you’re already familiar with instant pots, you’ll already know to expect some differences between models. Disregarding the size difference, a few things are noteworthy: 1) The interface is a little less complex on this one than other models. For instance, the pressure cooking setting doesn’t have temperature control. So, just set it to pressure cook and away you go. 2) They’ve added an anti-rotate feature for the pot so you can stir things without the pot spinning around inside the unit. I hope they add this feature to all future models. It’s just some silicone/rubber nubs that make contact with the pot when it is inserted. It’s simple and effective. 3) The power cord is permanently affixed to the unit and at least for the US version, is just a 2 prong plug (and just by the way, that’s all it needs. It draws less power than the bigger models). My wife has a big family so we have an 8qt instant pot duo crisp model that gets a work out for family events. One of my kids has a 6qt duo crisp. Both are just too big for 2-3 person meals. This Rio Mini is exactly right. I’ve only had it for a few days, but I’ve done all of the things I normally do with an instant pot and it performs exactly as I’d hope. I made a chicken meal from frozen to plated in under 30 minutes. I’ve done baked potatoes. I cooked rice (and by the way, the rice cooker feature is missing from our huge duo crisp model – you can do it, but it isn’t as simple. This one is dead simple.). And, last night I did a more complex Bolognese/Penne pasta meal that turned out exactly as expected. I have no complaints about this model what so ever.I picked black because I don’t care about matching any decor. It was easy to find it a home in my limited counter space. I ordered a silicone and a glass lid for the 6qt size and they fit this one perfectly. I have no idea if the silicone rings are interchangeable though. I like to keep a couple of seal rings to avoid flavor transfer after doing something heavy on onion or garlic and then doing something sweet or bland. Also, I’ll be looking forward to when they offer spare pots for this one. It’s nice to be able to make a main course, put a silicone lid on it, and then swap pots to make a side or a desert without having to empty and clean the first pot. This device is going to get a lot of use. The only thing that stops me from using our 8qt model more often and for more things is the size because there are often only two or three of us home to feed most days.

My family already has a 6 qt Instant Pot that we use constantly like, at least 3 times a week! But sometimes I just want to make food for myself or one other person, and dragging out the big one feels like overkill. That’s where the RIO Mini comes in.It’s the perfect size, and I love how compact it is! way easier to store in a small kitchen (hello, apartment life). Even though it’s smaller, the sauté area is the same size as the big one, which I wasn’t expecting. So it’s just as easy to brown meat or cook veggies without them getting crowded. It’s super convenient for making quick meals after work or school without having to stand over the stove. Also, it still has the yogurt function!! I was excited to see that included. And I have to say, the color options are adorable. I already love the sea salt, but now I’m eyeing the Rosewater version too because it’s SO cute.If you already have a bigger Instant Pot and don’t always need that much food, or if you’re just cooking for yourself, this is such a good add-on. 10/10 would recommend.

What can I say, instant pot does what an instant pot does. Made rice on it and came out very good. Love the size of it due to having a small kitchen

This guy really packs a punch! Yes, it replaces a slow cooker (I made refried beans in it this way), it sautées meats and veggies (great to not use the stovetop on a hot day), and cooks rice in a FLASH. I’ve never owned a rice cooker so to go from 60-90 minutes on the stovetop to 12 minutes in this device is a huge time saver. I haven’t used the pressure cooker feature yet but will report back when I do! The Keep Warm and Delay Start features are extra helpful in timing food for an event and those are both great upgrades over my slow cooker. It really is a multi-cooker!

Cooking for 2 would become a difficult task, until now! This all in one machine earned a permanent spot on the counter. It instant-ly (pun intended) replaced our rice cooker & crock pot. Rice was ready in half the time and our slow cooker cheesy bean and rice casserole was cooked to perfection! I could not recommend this more due to it’s low-profile, ease to clean, and variety of applications. Great product!
